Yes — BAILOS is a TMS. What you buy today is a sales module and a transport system, with a price, a login and support. The difference sits underneath: both run on one shared data foundation that was built from day one to carry more than a single company — eventually everyone who touches a transport.
Why that is needed: a single load is ordered, passed on, driven by subcontractors, moved through third-party trailer pools — and at every handover, meaning, visibility and proof fall away. The industry has strong muscles but a severed nervous system. We are not taking anyone's business away; we are laying the pathways that let it all think as one.

BAILOS is not a tech product that went looking for an industry — it is the industry that went and got itself the technology. Every process in the system comes from a real dispatch desk: the search that starts from zero, the paper chaos, the margin nobody can see. We lived through all of it ourselves.
That is why we build hands-on: close to operations, in short loops, with people who know what a backhaul is. Whatever does not work at the desk does not go into production here — no matter how good it looked on paper.

DOITS — Data Openness in Transport Solutions is the forum where truck manufacturers, trailer manufacturers, telematics providers and suppliers work on one shared question: how does European road transport speak a common data language? Because there is no global standard for the flow of information — proprietary solutions create confusion, and users never get the potential out of them.
We are part of that harmonisation work: twice a year we stand on that stage and lay open how we build — data model, event layer, interfaces. For us, openness is not a risk but the strategy: an open layer is something you plug into; a closed one is something you are delivered into. Whoever helps write the common standard does not have to buy it from someone later.

Not a mission statement for the lobby. These are the four sentences we measure every feature against before it gets built.
If you cannot switch systems because switching would cost more than standing still, you are not a customer any more — you are tied down. We build so that you stay because it works: your data belongs to you, the export is ready, the commitment is monthly.
A dispatcher carries dozens of open threads in their head every day: yesterday's commitment, the callback at three, the load that still has no truck. Whatever a system can remember, no human has to keep carrying around. The goal is a calmer desk, not just a faster one.
Not “the AI will sort it out”, but: you see every step, you approve, you step in. We build agent capability into the foundation — how much of it you switch on is your call. The price that goes out is always released by a human.
Companies work together today without a common language: email, phone, PDF, the same information three times over. We are building the layer underneath — a data foundation on which freight forwarder, carrier and shipper see the same truth. Without anyone handing over control of their own house.
Between vision and product sits the part you cannot present: building it. This is what runs today — in production, at forwarding companies that get through their day with it.

Long term · roadmap, not scope of delivery
These three gaps are not everyday annoyances — they are the reason the road cannot award transports automatically yet. All four participants pay for it: the shipper in uncertainty, the freight forwarder in disputes, the carrier in cash. And in the age of AI, manual work is shrinking — and with it what makes a forwarding company distinguishable today. What remains is the trail: who drove where and when, at what price, with what result. Whoever does not own that trail will sooner or later be working for whoever does.
So there is no misunderstanding: nothing in this section is part of the product yet. We write it down because that is where we are building — not because you can book it today. What is live is further up the page.
The principle underneath · Data ownership · planned, not available
The most valuable data in the transport chain is created on the move: who was where and when, what a vehicle really achieves, what a lane really costs. Today it is captured by telematics portals, platforms and corporate systems — and analysed by whoever owns those portals. The people driving get nothing out of it.
We want to hand that ownership back. To do so we are building a proof of origin: every record created in BAILOS is to carry a cryptographic signature — unalterable after the fact and attributed to the company that produced it. A transport record usually concerns several parties, so we are planning rights per party and per field: your selling price is yours, your carrier's buying price stays theirs.
How it is meant to work
PROVE
Who created a record becomes technically provable — as evidence that supports our contractual commitment rather than replacing it.
GRANT
You decide who sees what: per partner, per purpose, per period. We name one exception openly — we use aggregated, non-traceable market figures to improve the platform.
REVOKE
Access is meant to end when you say so, including after your contract ends. For that to be more than a promise, the key has to sit with you. That is exactly how we are planning it.
As the concept stands today, only checksums are to be written to the chain, never plain text — that stays in your database in the EU. We treat checksums as pseudonymous, not anonymous, data. Before we build it we will carry out a data protection impact assessment and disclose what kind of chain we use.
The three gaps below show where this missing data ownership costs the most today.
GAP 01 · THE CHAIN OF PROOF
A transport passes through many hands: the shipper places the order, the freight forwarder brokers it, the carrier drives it — and sometimes that carrier's subcontractor drives it. If the truck waits four hours at the ramp, or the goods arrive damaged, the search starts backwards through the chain, by email and phone. In the end it is one person's word against another's — and the freight forwarder sits right in the middle as the broker.
Ocean freight has solved this: a container is documented without gaps from Asia to the EU port — and at the port gate the chain breaks. We extend it onto the road instead of inventing a new one: pickup, stops, driver changes, delivery, each one a signed event in the same format. The shipper sees the proof from plant to ramp, the carrier substantiates its demurrage — and the freight forwarder no longer has to arbitrate something it never saw.
WHAT THAT MAKES POSSIBLE
GAP 02 · TRACTOR UNIT AND TRAILER
For the carrier this is everyday life: one tractor unit pulls 8 to 15 different trailers a month, one trailer sees 4 to 6 tractor units — and afterwards nobody can say reliably which combination was on the road when. The carrier is left with damage nobody can attribute and argues with the insurer. The freight forwarder loses sight of the shipment at the trailer swap. And the shipper asks where its goods actually are.
We bring three sources together — vehicle telematics, trailer electronics and the driver app at the coupling point — and turn them into a signed pairing event with a confidence score. Not “coupled or not”, but: how certain, from which sources. The carrier documents its fleet with it, the freight forwarder follows every shipment across every swap, the shipper gets an answer instead of a guess.
WHAT THAT MAKES POSSIBLE
GAP 03 · THE ELECTRIC TRUCK
This gap hits the carrier first: an electric truck costs a multiple of a diesel, and what it is still worth after a few hundred thousand kilometres depends on the state of the battery — which nobody can substantiate at the point of sale. There is practically no second-hand market, so lessors price in risk premiums. That slows the switch more than any charging point does.
We keep an asset ledger per vehicle: charging cycles, consumption, battery health, kilometres driven — recorded continuously and signed. The carrier gets a documented residual value instead of an estimate, and a better hand with the lessor. The forwarder's dispatch gets an answer to the question that is gut feeling today: which drivetrain fits this tour, at this weight, on this route? And when the shipper asks for CO₂ per shipment, the answer comes from real driving data.
WHAT THAT MAKES POSSIBLE
THE BIG PICTURE
Anyone talking about autonomous fleets and self-dispatching systems is really talking about these three preconditions. No agent can award what cannot be proven. No driverless truck moves if nobody knows what it is pulling. No fleet switches to electric while the residual value stays an estimate.
The vehicles will come — the manufacturers are working on that. What is missing is the data layer underneath, on which they can be ordered, tracked and invoiced. That is exactly what we are building, together with the people who build the vehicles.
WHAT THAT MEANS IN DAY-TO-DAY BUSINESS
In B2B traffic a shipment often changes carrier several times before it arrives. On a shared chain it stays one shipment all the same: every handover an entry, every stop documented. The customer asks once and sees the whole route — not just the first link.
Commitment, price, pickup, proof of delivery, damage photo — captured unalterably and in chronological order. In a pallet dispute or a damage claim, the record decides, not the better memory.
Real driving times, real waiting times at the ramp, real kilometres — maintained per lane and unalterable after the fact. That becomes a costing basis that holds up in a tender, too.
Licence, insurance, permits — stored in tamper-resistant form and verifiable in seconds. The wrong carrier is spotted before the goods are on its trailer.
Shippers have to report their emissions and pass the question down the line. Answering it from documented driving data instead of estimation formulas puts you in a different position in the tender.
Proof of delivery arrives, approval starts running: invoicing and pre-financing rest on a documented delivery instead of on promises. Fewer cases to clear up, shorter receivables.
